The kids had a great first day of school. It wasn't a great day for pictures though because it was raining.
Here they are on our front step.
When we walked out our front door there was a stream of parents and students making their way to the school. The school has 800 students and we live on the same street as the school so it is quite the sea of people at morning drop off and afternoon pickup. Here they are out in front of the "yard".
Since it was raining the kids were all sent inside rather than lining up outside. So Blake had to go in by himself and find the auditorium on his own. He told me at the end of the day he didn't find it right away but stopped a teacher and asked...the teacher happened to be one of his assistant teachers in his classroom. There are 30 students in Blake's class however there is one lead teacher and two assistant teachers. So they are well taken care of and get plenty of one on one attention.Carly was on a transition schedule this week. She will start going full days on Wed but for the first four days they go for just a few hours at a time to get used to it. I will walk her to her classroom each day and pick her up from her room. She starts 5 min sooner than Blake and gets out 5 min earlier. So it is enough time for me to do the kiddo shuffle.
This is the door she enters through each day.
Here she is in her classroom.
After school we went for a walk before going home. The kids got a first day of school treat. We got Italian ices at Mimi's.And here is Ms Avery who was quite the trooper doing the school routine.
The kids were both excited to go back this next week. I love being able to walk them to school and home. We are soaking up the nice weather while it lasts. Remind me that I said I liked walking this winter when there is a foot of snow!
