We were so glad to find out the weather would be beautiful this weekend when Rodney was not on call. Something we vowed to do while living in NYC is take it all in on the weekends. We want to experience it as much as possible.
On Friday night the kids stayed with our sitter Maggie and we went to dinner for Rodney's work. The traveling fellows were in the city for the week so we enjoyed a VERY fancy meal out at a french restaurant in honor of them. Let me just say that Rodney's palate has broadened....greatly. He is very willing to try new things since we go to such fun places and he has found many things he really does like. For example all in this week he sampled leeks, lobster, zucchini, veal, and sardines (a week ago). It really is impressive given his past history.
Ok, on to the weekend. Saturday we were up by 7 because Avery didn't get the memo that we were sleeping in. After breakfast we headed to the Bronx Zoo. We have a zoo membership so we will be making many trips to the zoos and aquariums. The Bronx Zoo is so big we saw all new things this time and I think there is a still another part we haven't seen yet.
Carly's favorite part are the wondering peacocks. She screams "peacock" everytime one comes near us. I tried to snap her picture with one but they are all a bit skiddish....I understand why.
Who doesn't love the prairie dog exhibit! The prairie dogs were active that day and would climb up very close to the enclosures. You can barely see but Blake is keeping a very close eye on them. Carly loves it.
Rodney didn't think this picture was funny. :)
Feeding the goats at the farm exhibit.
Blake being forced to feed the animals. This is not his thing at all.
A very good Daddy rides the carousel when requested. Not embarrassed at all.
There was a hay maze set up for the Zoo Boo events so Avery got to come out of her ride to walk through with me. Apparently she enjoyed it...Rodney was catching some shots of her over my shoulder.
Posing on a hay bale...
Now deciding if she should take a nibble of the hay bale...
Dipping dots for dessert while we watched the little show.
Sleepy on the subway home...
